Hublot’s Big Bang e FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ is taking fans of the globe’s largest football tournament right into the heart of the action.
The luxury Swiss watchmaker is the Official Timekeeper of the FIFA World Cup™ for the fourth- consecutive edition. It is timing all 64 games at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, including Sunday’s final at Lusail Iconic Stadium in Doha.
The 129 official referees have been timing games with the new Big Bang e FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ on their wrists, a connected watch which boasts a new ‘timeline’ function keeping wearers up-to-date with all the action.
“Hublot has always been ‘unique, first, different’, becoming the first fine watchmaking brand in football in 2006. Today, Hublot is the first name in football timekeeping,” said Ricardo Guadalupe, Hublot CEO.
“For this year’s tournament, we wanted to do something that expresses our belief in a free, diverse and unified world in a new and memorable way.
“Football is the world’s game and has a unique power to carry a message of hope to every corner of the Earth, connecting us and showcasing everything that brings us together. Passion, fairness, family.
“We’re so proud to be working with Mira Mikati and our Hublot Ambassadors and Friends of the Brand to tell this story. We’re also thrilled to be the Official Timekeeper of the FIFA World Cup™ for a fourth time, going back to the South Africa tournament of 2010.”

The Big Bang e FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ is a Gen3 connected watch in Hublot’s collection and is the highest-performing Big Bang e to date. With an even larger and improved high-definition screen, every glorious moment of the game will be captured by the specially designed and dedicated football app.
With 15 minutes to go before each match, the watch delivers team line-ups and player profiles.
When a game kicks off, the watch automatically enters ‘match mode’ and activates ‘timeline’, a feature created exclusively for this watch which helps fans capture the most memorable and most important moments.
At the outer edge of the dial, there is a scale split into five sections, indicating the first and second halves, additional time allowed in each half and half-time. If a goal is scored, the watch shows a match event animation mentioning the player’s name and a football symbol appears at the appropriate minute mark on the scale.
The same thing happens if there is a yellow card, a red card or a penalty.
If a match goes beyond normal time, the watch display automatically switches into extra- time mode, and then again into shootout mode, in the event a match goes to penalties.
Each penalty is recorded by a football with a green or red outline to indicate whether or not the attempt was successful. A final ‘match period animation’ shows when the game is over and the final score.
At any point during a game, the wearer can replay these events by scrolling around the dial using the watch’s crown. After five seconds of inactivity, the watch automatically switches into ‘low-consumption mode’ to save battery.
This functionality is unique to the Big Bang e FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
